Yesterday was the international Safer Internet Day, and also the day that second annual Microsoft Computing Safety Index’s results were published. Research was done globally on a massive scale; over 10,000 PC, smartphone and tablet users in 20 countries and regions were surveyed. The results? Outright troubling.
To begin with, 55 % of the global respondents said they are experiencing multiple online risks, but only 16 % confirmed that they are also taking proactive steps to protect their data and themselves. On a scale of 1 to 100, the global average for respondents’ personal approach to online safety was 34 for PCs and 40 for mobile devices.
